Fingal County Council moves forward with its first Affordable Housing Scheme development

Fingal County Council is moving forward with its first Affordable Housing Scheme, which is aimed at addressing some of the challenges faced by low-to-middle income earners in purchasing a property.

The Council is seeking expressions of interest from development partners for the design, construction, delivery and sale of the scheme at Dun Emer in Lusk.

Some €1.5m has been allocated for the reconstruction of Kilhedge Lane under the Government’s Serviced Site Fund established to provide key facilitating infrastructure, on public lands, to support the delivery of affordable homes to purchase or rent.

This is Fingal’s first Affordable Housing Scheme to move forward and we are confident that we will be in a position to progress others in the near future

Director of Housing Margaret Geraghty said: “There is a need to address issues of housing affordability in the context of the challenges that exist for low-to-middle income households, particularly in Dublin and in other main urban centres. This is Fingal’s first Affordable Housing Scheme to move forward and we are confident that we will be in a position to progress others in the near future.”

Further information on eligibility, income limits, is expected to be published over the coming months.
