Fingal County Council delivers new Accessible Homes at Mourne View, Skerries

Fingal County Council is pleased to announce the completion of a new infill housing development at Mourne View, Skerries, delivering 14 high-quality, energy-efficient homes designed to support independent living for older persons and people with accessibility needs. 

The development comprises 11 two-bedroom universal design homes, two three-bedroom homes and one specially adapted wheelchair-accessible four-bedroom home. 

 Located within walking distance of Skerries town centre, the scheme has been carefully designed to enable residents to remain living independently within their own community while maintaining close connections to family, friends and local services. All homes are accessible, dual aspect and built to high standards of energy efficiency and sustainability. 

Acting Mayor of Fingal, Councillor Tom O'Leary said:

" I am delighted to launch 14 new energy efficient social homes in skerries Mourne View.  Up to 60 people will reside in these new homes, built by Fingal Co Council in a great location beside the sea in Skerries. Fingal Co council are rising to the challenge and building and planning for new homes all across Fingal on multiple sites "

 "Mourne View is an excellent example of the Council's commitment to delivering high-quality homes that meet the needs of our communities. These new homes will provide older people, and residents with mobility needs, the opportunity to live independently in a safe, accessible and sustainable environment while remaining connected to their local community."

The development also includes landscaped communal spaces, biodiversity features, bicycle storage facilities, electric vehicle charging points and public realm improvements that will benefit both residents and the wider community. The homes have been constructed to Home Performance Index standards, ensuring a high level of quality, comfort and environmental performance.

The Mourne View development forms part of Fingal County Council's ongoing programme of delivering inclusive, sustainable housing that supports people to live independently and thrive within their communities.
