Fingal collaborates with ESB and car sharing operators to launch shared EV eHubs

Fingal County Council has been working with the ESB Innovation team and car sharing operators, to develop transportation options to ensure that electric vehicles are accessible to a broad range of people, while contributing to more sustainable and connected communities. 

A new pilot project has launched today which sees the introduction of two EV-only eHubs opened in Malahide (beside the train station) and Chapel Lane in Swords. These purpose built eHubs each include an ESB charge station and two shared EVs available to book at the sites.  The EVs are provided by car share operators Go Car and Yuko and will be integrated into the suppliers’ existing car share booking apps, making it easier for users to book.

Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Brian McDonagh said: “Fingal County Council is proud to fully support the eHubs pilot project, which provides our community with an accessible pathway to electric transportation while promoting a cleaner, greener future. This initiative not only supports sustainable energy solutions but also strengthens the connections within our community, paving the way for a more environmentally conscious future for generations to come.”

David Storey, Director of Environment, Climate Action, Active Travel and Sport at Fingal County Council said: ‘’We are making significant strides towards a healthier and greener environment with this initiative. EVPZ further reduces the environmental impact of traditional car sharing and helps us overcome barriers to EV adoption. With eHubs in two locations across Fingal, it enables citizens to move sustainably, quickly, and cost-effectively."
