Fingal Local Enterprise Office (LEO) hosted a networking event last Friday celebrating local businesses approved for funding in the second half of 2019.

The Mayor of Fingal Cllr. Eoghan O’Brien and Chief Executive of Fingal County Council AnnMarie Farrelly presented successful grant recipients with certificates for business supported by LEO Fingal with funding provided by the Irish Government co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund. The companies were among 130 approved in the last 12 months for business priming grants (for start-ups), innovation grants, business expansion grants, Trading Online Vouchers, Exporter development grants and other schemes aimed at stimulating enterprise and job creation.

Presenting certificates to each of the grants approved businesses, Cllr. Eoghan O’Brien, Mayor of Fingal, commented: “It gives me great pleasure to see small local businesses develop in Fingal and perform so well in Ireland and abroad. The Local Enterprise Office plays a vital role in ensuring our entrepreneurs' achievements are recognised in the global stage”.

The approved businesses are responsible for many innovative ideas and products including a cloud-based business management platform; manufacturers of environmentally-friendly packaging for the pharmaceutical industry; a bespoke digital education platform for managing personal finances; a range of high-quality vegan and vegetarian products; and manufacturers of high-end contemporary jewellery among others. While most are in the early stages of their development, some have already attained national and international success.

Announcing the latest grant approvals for the Fingal businesses, AnnMarie Farrelly, Chief Executive of Fingal County Council said: “I am delighted with the calibre of businesses present today. Fingal County Council, through our Local Enterprise Office, safeguards a forward-thinking entrepreneurial culture in our county, allowing us to better serve our citizens.

Oisín Geoghegan, Chair of the LEO Network and Head of Enterprise in Fingal, further added: “LEO Fingal proudly continues to be at the forefront in business as can be seen from our pioneering clients, setting trends in their respective industries. I hope to see more local entrepreneurs engaging with LEO Fingal and taking their business to the next level.
