Huntstown Way Hartstown Road Junction Upgrades

Hartstown Huntstown

Hartstown Road / Huntstown Way Junction Upgrades

The Proposal

Fingal County Council is proposing upgrades to pedestrian and cycling infrastructure at four key junctions along Hartstown Road and Huntstown Way. The goal is to encourage more people to choose walking, wheeling or cycling for short trips and to connect more easily with public transport for longer journeys. These improvements are designed to create a safer, more accessible environment, supporting active travel throughout the Blanchardstown area.

Works Proposed Include

  • New zebra crossings added to the two roundabouts
  • Toucan crossings provided on all arms of the two signalised junctions
  • Upgrades to existing pedestrian facilities
  • Traffic calming measures

The Junctions

  • Junction 1: Huntstown Way with Ashfield Way / Huntstown Park
  • Junction 2: Huntstown Way with Castlewood
  • Junction 3: Hartstown Road and Hartstown Link Road
  • Junction 4: Hartstown Road/ Mountview Road with Blakestown Road / Shelerin Road

The Benefits

  • Compact junctions leading to lower approach speeds
  • Connecting to existing pedestrian and cycle infrastructure along the Hartstown Road and Huntstown Way route
  • Offline cycle route around the two roundabouts resulting in cyclists segregated from motor traffic
  • Crossing the junctions will be safer, particularly for older people, those with disabilities and children
