Fingal eBike Connect

The Fingal eBike Connect Scheme is a Fingal County Council initiative in partnership with Bleeper Bike that subsidises the cost of eBike rentals for residents in suburban and rural areas of the county. Successful applicants are provided with exclusive access to an eBike for three months at the significantly reduced price of €20 per month instead of the usual €80. 

Fingal County Council is a large and varied administrative area, and while traditional bike share isn’t commercially viable in every part, we’re still committed to providing people with greener, cost-effective alternatives to car use and are always looking at innovative ways to promote Active Travel. 

The initial pilot in the Donabate/Portrane area proved extremely popular with over 75% of applicants more likely to use an eBike after the 3 months and 88% of respondents using their eBike to link with other forms of public transport. 

On the back of this, we have expanded the scheme to Skerries in November 2025

The scheme is proving extremely popular with commuters, over 80% of applicants are aged between 45 – 64. The eBike Connect Scheme has the potential to change the way Local Authorities approach Bike Sharing in more rural or sparsely populated areas and the overarching goal is to encourage sustainable travel by letting residents experience the practicality of eBikes for commuting and leisure.
