Baldoyle Elephant in the Room

Baldoyle Elephant in the Room

As part of the Elephantintheroom.ie initiative to raise awareness of Mental Health, Baldoyle Forum wants to install an 'Elephant' in the public Green Space beside the Community Hall. This piece of sculpture would be painted by a professional artist and have a plaque encouraging people to sit, chat and listen while having their coffee. The design will be decided by way of a public competition run by the Community Hall, aimed specifically at groups attending the Hall including The Men's Shed, Active Retired, Prosper Fingal and St. Michaels Hospital. Baldoyle Forum has approached The Elephant in the Room project about establishing an Elephant in a public space to reach a wider audience, highlight mental health as an issue and encourage talking and listening in the community. This project would also introduce an attractive piece of art to a small public green area that has a high footfall. This green space has a coffee van and will be part of the new Greenway between Sutton and Portmarnock.
