Supports available through the Department of Social Protection

Long term unemployed

Companies can access support from the Department of Social Protection when they hire a new employee who has been in long term unemployment.

JobsPlus is an incentive for employers which rewards firms who employ jobseekers on the Live Register. The incentive is focused on employers hiring people who have been out of work for long periods.

The Department of Social Protection pays the incentive to the employer monthly in arrears over the course of 2 years. There are 2 levels of payment - €7,500 and €10,000 depending on the length of time unemployed and other application rules.
