Examples of projects
Vape Waste – A Modern Litter Problem
Disposable vapes have become one of the newest and fastest-growing types of street litter. Often bright and colourful, they might look harmless, but they contain plastic, metal, lithium batteries, and nicotine residue — all harmful to the environment.
Improper disposal can lead to toxic waste, fires in bins, and long-term environmental damage.
How about organising a community awareness campaign on the impacts of vape litter? Or organising a dedicated community clean up?
Biodiversity Against Dumping
Did you know that planting flowers, hedges, or creating mini gardens can actually reduce littering and illegal dumping? When an area looks cared for, people are less likely to abuse it.
Project idea: Transform a dumping blackspot into a community garden or pollinator-friendly zone. Add signage to explain the project and its benefits and involve local youth in planting or design.
Graffiti to Mural Makeover
Sometimes all it takes to prevent graffiti is a little colour and community involvement. Vandalised walls can become vibrant public art when transformed with local talent.
Project idea: Run a “Wall to Wow” mural project, involve local artists or schools to create meaningful designs with anti-litter or positive community messages.
