National Tree Week 2023 will take place from 19th to 26th March and Fingal County Council has a number of initiatives planned to celebrate this including plans to distribute 16,000 trees to residents across the county, as well as hosting a number of community planting events and workshops.

Fingal She Leads, an initiative of Fingal County Council, as part of International Women's Day (IWD) 2023 is celebrating women's leadership in a visual way, through a photography exhibition.

In 2022, Malahide Library welcomed members of Prosper Fingal to the library to take part in an Inclusive Creativity project funded by Creative Ireland. Prosper Fingal supports adults with an intellectual disability. This year, Malahide Library will continue the Inclusive Creativity partnership with Prosper Fingal and the project will branch out to two new locations, Rush Library and Skerries Libraries

The Fingal Libraries World Book Tour is a series of workshops by five published Irish children’s authors who will visit Fingal Libraries and schools, and deliver hour-long events for invited audiences of Primary School children. Some of these workshops will be delivered as Gaeilge. This series of events is timed to coincide with the week of World Book Day 2023, which falls on Thursday 2nd March. 

Fingal is ready to welcome a return of the annual Saint Patrick’s Day parades with events set to take place across the County. In addition to the parades being held in Balbriggan, Blanchardstown and Swords, Fingal will also be introducing a parade in Malahide this year. Community groups in Rush, Lusk and Skerries will also host celebrations on 17 March.

The Council is currently seeking applications for funding for creative community projects that are collaborative in nature, transform people and place and benefit the whole community.

Fingal County Council has announced the appointment of a new member, Mary Egan, to its Executive Management Team.
