Keen to be Green Facilities | Water Awards 2025
Building on their previous achievements in waste management, community centres were once again recognized for the sterling efforts they continuously make on a day-to-day basis. The Keen to be Green ‘Water’ Awards took place during Dublin Climate Action Week which was hosted by Fingal County Council
in 2025. Celebrating the community centres excelling in the area of water conservation, 30 Community Centres were recognised for their achievements.
Speaking at the awards Mayor Cllr. Brian McDonagh stated:
“As the Keen to Be Green Programme continues to develop, it marks an opportunity for community centres to demonstrate best practice, incorporate achievable environmental actions into day-to-day management practices and continue working with residents and local stakeholders in innovative ways to achieve the aims and objectives of the Keen to Be Green Charter. Every action, no matter how small, is important.
The Water Awards recognise how each of you here have made a significant effort within your services to conserve water usage, promote water conservation and address key areas including leak management in your centres.
On that note, I want to thank Naomi Weir, Linda Ennis and the Community Departments Facilities Team for supporting the Keen to Be Green Project from inception and for continuing to direct resources at the programme which ensure the aims and objectives of the Keen to Be Green charter are prioritised within Fingal Supported Community Centres. I also want to thank the members of the Community Facilities Network – Steering Group; who do a lot of work behind the scenes ensuring the network continues to grow and meet the needs of its members, and to finally, extend a warm and sincere congratulations to each of you for driving the Keen to Be Green Agenda and to thank you for hard work and commitment. Together, we can make a significant impact on our environment”
