Conservation Clinic

Conservation Clinic

Fingal County Council is hosting a Conservation Clinic offering FREE consultations with a Conservation Accredited Architect or Building Surveyor.

Consultations are designed for building owners and occupiers to discuss and receive expert advice on the conservation of their historic buildings. The Conservation Clinic will focus on the existing building and will not cover extensions or new builds.

The Fingal County Council Architectural Conservation Officers will also be available on the day should owners or occupiers wish to discuss their buildings.

This initiative supports best conservation practice and helps ensure the conservation of the built heritage of Fingal.

Eligibility:

How to make the most of your consultation:

  • Be able to clearly describe your property type (cottage, terraced house, etc.)
  • Be prepared to give details about your concerns (damp, heating, light, etc.)
  • Bring photos of site, building interior and exterior, any outbuildings, etc.
  • Bring along a floor plan if available and know roughly the dimensions of rooms - this is often provided in an auctioneer’s floor plan.
  • Be able to find your building quickly on google maps/street view in case this is needed or provide the Eircode
  • Consider any other issues such as land access, overlooking buildings, protected status of the structure, etc.
  • You may find it useful to write out some notes for yourself to act as points of discussion.
