Fingal County Council is assisting in the recruitment of mentors from the local community with a view to furthering the Our Balbriggan initiative and the Fingal Skills Strategy and supporting local second level students. Due to the success of the previous programme Trinity Access Programme are running additional sessions on January 24th and 26th Jan from 6.30pm-7.30pm

  • A number of secondary schools in Balbriggan are taking part in a community mentoring programme where members of the local community will mentor small groups of students typically in transition year or fifth year, from local schools.
  • Mentors should be individuals with a connection to the Balbriggan area and with career or academic experience which will aid them in listening to and advising students on their future studies/careers. Mentors can come from a broad range of backgrounds - academic, business, community leadership, school alumni, or simply be someone with good life and career experience to share. Particular knowledge of third level, vocational training or apprenticeships is useful but not essential.
  • Mentors will be expected to complete 3-5 sessions with small groups of students (3/4) over the course of a 12-month period, and they will receive a certificate at the end of this time.
  • Garda vetting is essential to take part – forms are available through the participating schools.
  • Participating Schools:
  • Ardgillan Community College
  • Balbriggan Community College
  • Bremore Educate Together Secondary School
  • Loreto Balbriggan
