Fingal County Council publishes its Gender Pay Gap Report for 2025
Fingal County Council has today published its Gender Pay Gap Report 2025, highlighting the percentage difference between what men and women are paid on average in the organisation, irrespective of roles or levels.
The 2025 report shows that the gender breakdown of Fingal County Council staff stands at 48% female and 52% male.
The Mean Gender Pay Gap, which is the difference between the average hourly earnings of men and women employed by the Council, shows that on average, males are paid 3.9% more than females.
The Median Gender Pay Gap, which is measure of what a typical worker in the middle of the Council’s pay scale earns, shows that the median rate of pay for females is 0.07% higher than the median rate of pay for males.
This is a change from 2024 when the Mean Gender Pay Gap was 0.8% in favour of women and the Median Gender Pay Gap was 14.81% in favour of women. In 2023 the Mean Gender Pay Gap was 1.65% in favour of men while the Median Gender Pay Gap was 9.31% in favour of women.
The Chief Executive of Fingal County Council, AnnMarie Farrelly, said: “Our 2025 Gender Pay Gap Report shows that this year, the gap between the average salaries of male and female employees is in favour of men while the median figure of pay for females is 0.07 % higher than male pay.
“This report indicates that Fingal County Council is a place where all employees have the same opportunities for recognition and career development and are treated fairly and equitably at work.
“Five of the 11 members of our Executive Management Team are female, and we are committed to addressing workplace barriers to equality and creating an open and inclusive workplace community. Many equality, diversity and inclusion initiatives and supports are already in place, and we will continue our work in this area,” added Ms Farrelly.
Employers with more than 50 employees in Ireland are required to publish their gender pay gap data before the end of 2025 and within six months of their reference date. Fingal County Council and all other local authorities in Ireland chose 30th June 2025 as the reference date.
