Illustrators Inc.

Illustrators Inc. a professional development day for illustrators 8th Nov 2013, Malahide Castle.

A seminar event for professional illustrators exploring the range of opportunities available within illustration. Illustrators Inc. sets out to explore the many paths available to illustrators in developing their careers across a variety of sectors including publishing, licensing, technology and animation, as well as provoking a wider discussion about the place of illustration and illustrators within the visual arts locally and internationally. A packed room was in attendance for a range of inspiring talks from both Irish and international speakers, a flavour of their presentations and talks is presented below, click on the links below to upload presentations from the event. Public Art Commission Opportunity - 1916

The arts office are seeking proposals from artists which will reflect on the themes, activities and characters that feature in the Fingal experience of 1916. We are accepting proposals from all art-forms and artists working in all media. The budget is €35,000 and will take the form of a two stage competition, Stage 1 will assess initial proposals for shortlist and Stage 2 will invite shortlisted artists to develop a more detailed proposal.The Commemorations Committee will be available to interested artists who want to research the theme further and production support is available from Fingal Arts Office.

Culture Night 2016

Culture Night is taking place this Friday 16th September 2016 from 5.00pm – 11.00pm. Culture Night is a public event that celebrates all that can be said to be part of our ‘culture’ which includes: arts, archives, sport, gardening, libraries and community activities. Fingal County Council is delighted to celebrate this year’s Culture Night and is hoping to encourage people to visit cultural venues and experience culture in their locality on the night.

Fingal County Council's Arts Office is delighted to announce an exciting programme of free events taking place in various locations in Fingal to celebrate Culture Night 2017. Culture Night is an annual all-island public event that celebrates culture, creativity and the arts. For one night only on Friday 22nd September, arts and cultural organisations, churches, castles and historic houses in Fingal will extend their opening hours to the public, highlighting all the fantastic cultural facilities and resources that we have locally. Join us for a variety of unique events, workshops and talks specifically programmed for Culture Night at participating venues.

Exhibition by Catherina Hearne

These works utilise painting techniques and approaches that required a huge amount of research and experimentation over quite a few years. Processes such as encaustic with its use of oil, wax, pigment and dammar varnish are time consuming, temperamental and difficult materials to control.
