Bike Week Schools Activities

Fingal County Council’s Active Travel team is gearing up for Bike Week 2024 and this year we’re asking schools across Fingal to get involved!

Cycling is a great way to enjoy exercise while getting some fresh air. It also promotes confidence in children to travel independently and is a sustainable and cheap climate action we can all build into our daily lives.

How Can My School Get Involved in Bike Week 2024?

Choose from one of two school activities this Bike Week:

Fresh Air Friday Superhero Cycle

On Friday, 17 May children can dress up as superheroes (imaginative or legendary) and cycle to school to celebrate Bike Week.

Just like every Fresh Air Friday, this event encourages children to commute to school by bike, reduces congestion at the school gates and promotes independence and confidence.

Make sure to take lots of photos and send them to [email protected] to be in to win!

Bling Your Bike to School

Encourage kids to bring their bike to school already ‘blinged’ up for a fun start to the day, or organise a bike decorating art class as part of the school day – it makes a great outdoor activity!

This event encourages children to love their bike and take care of it, while also promoting creativity and fun!

You can run 'bling your bike to school' any day during Bike Week 2024 and once you get your class photos over to [email protected] your school will be in to win a prize!
