Fingal is full of life and opportunity image

Fingal was set up as a result of the Local Government Act 1993, which dissolved Dublin County Council and created 3 new Local Authorities; Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown, Fingal and South Dublin.

The official population of Fingal has grown dramatically to just under 240,000. Almost 44,000 more people live in Fingal now than in 2002, a growth rate of 22.2% in just 4 years. Fingal is officially Ireland’s fastest growing county and the area of Dublin undergoing the greatest expansion. It now makes up 5.6% of the national population.

Fingal remains Ireland’s youngest county with the average age of its resident being 32.2 years old, significantly younger than the present national average of 35.6.

The age category 25-34 known as “commencers”, or those likely to be first time house buyers rose by 46% since 2002.  Anecdotal evidence shows this has been reflected in the demand and uptake of new housing throughout Fingal
