Mayor of Fingal, Councillor Kieran Dennison is hosting a conference on economic development “Working Together for Success” at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Blanchardstown on Wednesday 16th April next.

Fingal County Council Asserting a new role with Supporting Businesses

Government policy has put a renewed focus on what local government can do to help get the economy back on its feet and once again Fingal is taking the lead in showing how Council’s are supporting business. To coincide with the opening if the Fingal Local Enterprise Office (LEO) later this month, Mayor of Fingal, Cllr.Kieran Dennison has devoted his Mayor’s Conference next week to the theme of ‘Economic Development’ and the idea that businesses and support agencies need to literally “work together for success”.

The conference is free and will happen at the Crowne Plaza Blanchardstown next Wednesday morning. The speakers are people who understand what Councils can do and who can give advice on the challenges ahead. Ethna Felten, Director of Economic Development and Paul Reid the recently appointed Fingal County Manager will talk about how an entirely new and complimentary range of supports to business are going to develop in the coming years.

The Enterprise Board and the County Council have proactively grasped the LEO opportunity and provided a new home for it in County Hall Swords. Our elected members have also shown strong support. County Councillors voted additional funds into this area during the 2014 budget deliberations and Fingal County Council is at an active stage of planning how these resources will be targeted to improve the entire economy. The targeted service of the LEO will then work in tandem with these supports.

Fingal County Council already engages with and supports businesses of all types, sectors and sizes. The opening of the Fingal LEO and the expansion of the Council’s enterprise development resource will build on a pre-existing superb entrepreneurial culture, but will also ensure that this culture is spread into different sectors in the wider economy.

So join the conversation. Sign up now for the free Mayors conference “Working together for success”, Crowne Plaza, Blanchardstown, 9am Wednesday 16th April.
